Chronological accounts of disbursements and receipts were totaled quarterly for return to U.S. Treasury. Entries for disbursements include date and cause (e.g., salaries, commissions, deposits with U.S. Treasury, printing, travel, furniture, advertising). Entries for receipts usually were made for land purchased and include date of purchase, Receiver's receipt number, name of purchaser, legal description of tract, number of acres, price per acre, amount received in military land scrip and warrants, and total amount of purchase price.
